Itinerary
Pick up from your hotel in the city centre. The first point is the Mirador de los Volcanes, whose height offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Andean apus venerated by the Incas, which today protect the White City: Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.
Then we will go to the Añashuayco Quarry. The stone ashlar is still being mined, which is why it has become an immense canyon with gigantic white walls, some 30 metres high. The local builders explain their carving techniques and show the various uses of stone.
Our next destination is Quebrada de Culebrillas, a stone quarry that is not yet in operation, located between the districts of Uchumayo and Cerro Colorado. A 20-minute walk will allow us to observe the enigmatic petroglyphs engraved on the walls of the ravine.
On the way back to the city we will observe the Apachetas, stone structures arranged in a conical structure on the banks of the Inca Trail, as an offering. These are considered by the locals to be an ancestral custom that provokes a mystical sensation.
