Salkantay Trek Machu Picchu 5 days nice option for visitors who want to do a new 5 day trek to Machupicchu instead of the Inca Trail classic Machupicchu, because it can be hard to find places available on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa
Very early we will leave Cusco, passing through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo and after 3 hours of journey from Cusco we reach Mollepata. After a great breakfast we began our long and very beautiful hike up the area known as Silcacancha, where will wait our great lunch. After a short break, we will continue between green and beautiful landscapes to Soraypampa place where we will spend the first night about 3,950 m.a.s.l.
Day 2: Soraypampa – Chaullay
After a delicious breakfast. We will start the hike going up to the pass, a great walk full of adventures that we will cross the place which is called Salcantay Pampa until you reach the highest point of the pass of the Salcantay as well the Umantay Glacier located over 4,650 meters from where we can appreciate all the Majesty of the area. After a rest we will continue our tour to Huayrac machay where we will have a well-deserved rest and lunch here there is an indescribable view of the place then we will continue until our second camp in the area of Chaullay, where we will have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa
After Breakfast we will start our unforgettable day in the valley where well will a completely change of the nature beginning on the covered mountains until the inter-Andean spots with a variety of flora and fauna of this area, you will pass very near the Andean Community by ccollpa where we will begin to descend toward the eyebrow of jungle where we see a valley of small formations of thermal waters that follow the course of the River Santa Teresa by hot and humid environment in this area you will feel a micro climate that has been able to take full advantage of the lots of orchids that by their colors and variety have been catalogued by the experts as the most beautiful in the world, we reach our camp at lunch time where we will take lunch, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: La Playa – Hydro Electric Power – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast at 7.30 a.m. we will begin our walk going up to the archaeological remains of Llactapata where we will see a pass of 2950 meters above sea level, here we will see some building and rooms of the Incas. Here we will have a view over the mountain of Machu Picchu and other peaks in the area, we will enjoy a free time to relax, we will descend approximately 2 hours towards the hydroelectric plant at 1870 m.a.s.l. after lunch with all the staff of the trek we will take the train that will take us in 45 minutes towards the town of Aguas Calientes 2000 m.a.s.l (optional) you can go to the thermal baths which is at 1.2 kilometers of distance from the town, by the evening we will have dinner and accommodation at hotel.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning the guide will pick you up from the hotel in order to go by bus to one of the seven wonders of the new world Machupicchu, once there the guide will explain you all the archeological site in a time of 2 hours, after this you will have time to explore the site by your own, in the afternoon you will descent of the archeological site in order to take the train back to Cusco, where our staff will be waiting for you and take you back to your hotel
