In this one day tour we will visit the Colca Canyon, recognized for being one of the deepest canyons in the world. We will also have the privilege of observing one of the largest birds on the planet: The Condor, we will be able to appreciate its majestic flight at the viewpoint of the Cruz del Condor. In addition, we will enjoy a direct contact with the nature of this valley. During our tour we will be accompanied by a specialized guide who will tell us interesting details about the history of the cultures that inhabited this area. We will enjoy a delicious lunch, with Andean dishes made with local products.
Itinerary
We begin our trip very early, at 3:00 am, to head to Chivay, here we will enjoy breakfast, and then embark on a tour where we will appreciate wonderful landscapes, pre-Inca terraces, as well as native flora and fauna, until we reach the Cruz del Cóndor to observe the majesty of the Colca Canyon from a strategic point, as well as the flight of the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus), the largest non-marine bird on the planet, named cultural and natural heritage of South America.
On the way back, we will stop at the Huayra Punko viewpoint in Pinchollo, and then at the Antahuilque viewpoint, in order to observe some pre-Inca models and hanging tombs. The next stop will be in Maca, a small and picturesque town in the region, where we will taste the traditional Colca Sour drink.
We will visit the hot springs, where you can bathe and relax with their thermal-medicinal properties. Afterwards, we will enjoy lunch in the town of Chivay.
Before returning to Arequipa, we will end our trip through the Colca Valley with a stop at the impressive Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest part of our tour, and we will make another stop at the Bofedales de Tocra, where we will spot camelids and birds such as Andean ducks and flamingos.
The last stop will be in Patahuasi, to enjoy a panoramic view of Misti, Chachani with stone forests and curious rock formations.
